Privacy and Data Protection

Abbeydale Web Ltd respects the privacy of everyone who visits its Web Site and any information collected about you will firstly be used to fulfil any service you might request and secondly improve how we serve you. We do this by making appropriate use of the information.

This information will not be disclosed to anyone outside of Abbeydale Web Ltd. It will be treated in accordance with the legal provisions under English law concerning data protection.

You have the right as an individual to find out what information we hold about you and make corrections if necessary; you also have the right to ask us to not use the information. We will make all practical efforts to respect your wishes.

Data Protection policy statement

Abbeydale Web Ltd collects from you only such information as we require to contact you and to provide the products and services you have requested from us.  Any information you provide will be held by us and to contact you as necessary to provide the products and services you have asked for.  We do not conduct 'marketing' campaigns and will not contact you at random about stuff you may possibly be interested in!

Data Protection legislation and how it protects you

The Data Protection Act and General Data protection Regulations put obligations on users of personal information and lay down principles for its use. One principle states that information has to be processed fairly and lawfully and another requires information to be stored securely. This means that you are entitled to know what information we collect and how we intend to use it. You can then decide whether you want to allow us to have it.

What information do we collect?

Generally we collect just contact information to allow us to provide our products and services and to reply to your enquiries.

If we build a website for you and/or provide email services we will obviously collect further information to allow us to do that.  If we provide email services we will retain details of your email accounts to allow us to support you in resolving issues, eg. installing email accounts to a new computer.  You can ask us not to retain such information but that may prevent us from providing support.

How we use the information you give us

Our main use of the information you supply is to provide and maintain your website or to provide other specific services you request. We may also obtain some information elsewhere - from domain registrars for instance.

Occasionally we may contact you by e-mail or otherwise to provide information about the products and/or services we provide to you, eg. website hosting renewal, maintenance schedules etc. and to help you resolve any issues that may arise.

We do not provide information about you to companies outside Abbeydale Web Ltd unless you ask us to, eg. to enhance or augment the products and services we provide. In certain instances we may be required by law to disclose information about our customers.

How long do we keep your information?

We keep the information you provide to us as long as you remain a client of Abbeydale Web Ltd.  If you cease to be a client we will, at your request, delete all information we have about you.

Your rights

You have the right of access to information we hold about you. If anything is inaccurate or incorrect, please let us know and we will correct it.  You can also ask us, at any time, to delete any information we hold about you but this may prevent us providing the services you have requested.  We will let you know if this is the case.

If you do not want to receive unsolicited communications from other companies you can prevent this by registering with the Mailing Preference Service on 020 7766 4410 to prevent unsolicited mail, the Telephone Preference Service on 0845 070 0707 to prevent unsolicited marketing calls, and the Fax Preference Service on 0845 070 0702.

If you want to object to receiving unsolicited e-mail, please see the E-mail Preference Service's website at www.e-mps.org

For more details about all the Preference Services, please see the Direct Marketing Association's website at www.dma.org.uk

If you e-mail us, or give us your e-mail address, we will keep a record of it. We will use it to contact you as required about the products and services we provide to you. We will not give your e-mail address to any third parties without your express permission.

Telephone calls

We do not generally record telephone conversations but if we believe that a record of a conversation needs to be kept we may request that the exchange be conducted in writing, by email or post.

Changes to how we deal with personal information

We reserve the right to revise our policy on how we deal with personal information and if we do so we will advise you accordingly.

Our full terms and conditions for the provision of web prodiucts and services are supplied when we quote you for those products or services but are available on request in any case.

Cookies are small data files that your web browser stores on your computer to enhance your website experiences.  Generally they contain information about your preferences on particular websites and, if you log in to any websites, they will contain information that allows you to stay logged in as you browse from page to page.

How Do We Use Cookies

Abbeydale Web uses cookies to track website usage statistics via Google Analytics.  These cookies collect anonymous data about the pages you visit and the technology you use to view them.

Google Analytics cookies all have names beginning with ‘_g’

While you have pages of our website open in your browser you will also find a cookie called ‘PHPSESSID’.  This is normally used only when editing web pages and disappears as soon as you leave our website.  If you are just viewing our web pages it simply records the fact that you are not logged in!

Viewing and Deleting Cookies

You can delete the cookies used by our website and it will not detract from your visit.  If in doubt about how to do this just google (or bing, or…!) for ‘how to delete cookies’ and you will find a number of websites explaining how to go about it in your browser.  You will generally need to know which browser and version you are using as they all work differently.

You can also view the cookies individually and see what information they contain.  Again google for websites explaining how to do this in your browser.
